LO2: Fonts, Graphics, House style colours

FONTS:

For the masthead "The Baraat" I will be using the font "Classy" for the word "The". This is because I would like the word "The" to stand out and to look bold and for me to achieve for my audience to know that my magazine will be THE perfect magazine that they are looking for. My magazine is called "The Baraat" meaning the wedding. Baraat means the wedding from the grooms side as in the groom arriving, doing his entrance to take away his bride with all love and blessings from her family. For the word "Baraat" I want it to stand out and for my audience to be amazed when they look at my magazine so I will be using the font called "Elegant". I have found both of these fonts, free to download on the website called DaFont. I will also be using either the colour white or red for the colour of the text "THE". I am thinking of white because it connotes the idea of it being professional and bold. Also I am wanting the image to be dark as the main cover image so it's best to go for an option that is bright and visible for the audience to see from a distance. The colour red connotes the traditional colour worn by the bride and groom on their wedding day. I wanted to interpret the traditional colours on my masthead to convey to the audience that this is THE South Asian magazine that should read to receive ideas to plan their wedding. However, the colour red by look dull compared to a bright white so I may have to go for the option of white for the text "THE". However for the text "Baraat" that will be in the font elegant, the name of the font says enough of why I have chosen the font for the text "Baraat". I want it to stand out and look outstanding, as well presenting a royalty free image of a gold subtle background as a clipping mask of the text "Baraat" will make the text to stand out a lot more on a dark background. 

For the body copy text and any other text they will be shown my magazine will be in the font "Cochin". I have chosen to use this font throughout the production of creating the magazine for my client because it makes the text look really professional and well stood out. 

GRAPHICS:

For the graphics that I will be using in my magazine is first mandala designs. I will be creating different mandala designs to present on my magazine such as round mandala designs and banner mandala designs. I will be using procreate to illustrate all of my graphics that I may use on my magazine. I have chosen to illustrate mandala designs to present on my magazine but it reveals cultural identity and I would like to honour my traditional arts in my magazine. Show casting mandala designs does relate to my genre of magazine because my magazine is targeted towards South Asian young adults aged 18-25 years old. Having mandala designs on my magazine will allow my audience to instantly know the target of my magazine. Mandala art is really important too when it comes wedding planning as because it relates to the work of art presented on the heavy intricate attire worn by the bride and groom on their wedding events. 

I will also be creating rectangle banner frames for all of my articles in my magazine in the colours that will match the theme of the images that I will be presenting on each page. This is because, I will be keeping all of the body copy text in my magazine in the colour white and in the font "Cochin". I have chosen to have the text in the colour white and in the font "Cochin" because I wanted to connote the idea of my the pages of my magazine to look professional and for the body copy articles to stand out and to contrast well with the images I have used. However, for me to make my body copy articles to stand out, I will be creating rectangle banner frames to add my text on top to contrast well with the colour theme of the images that will be used on each page. 

HOUSE STYLE:

For the house style colours, the background of my magazine will be in the colour white. This is because the colour white will make the use of the colours of the rectangle banner frames and the images itself to stand out and to pop its bright, vibrant colours. There will be many different colours used in my magazine for each page. This is because I want each page of my magazine to match the colours of my models outfit on the cultural event before the big wedding day. This colours includes, green, beige, pink, orange, blue and burgundy red.

For the body copy text, I have chosen the colour white and to use the font "Cochin". This is because the colour white in the font "Cochin" connotes the idea of professional and elegant. Allowing the text to be bold and making it appealing on top of the coloured rectangle banner frames. 

LO2: Photoshoot Plans

RISHTA:

For the Rishta event, I have captured a few images of Kaleem and Thaiba first moments being together in front of the family. The best images that I have captured of Kaleem and Thaiba during the Rishta was both of them after the agreement was made and I told them to pose for the camera. This is because I wanted them to both to express their true personality and for them to be themselves and to enjoy the moment as they begin to start a new journey together. 

Another photo in which I took on the Rishta day was of them both celebrating the event and the happiness and by ending it by taking a shot of them both cutting their cake. I wanted to have a picture of them both cutting their cake as it symbolises the new journey for them both, adapting together and now doing things together as a couple and not as an individual. Having a cake cutting shot of them both emphasises a new beginning for them both and shows the full commitment they have to take accountability in and to continuously show love and affection to each other to grow the marriage.

NIKKAH:

For the Nikkah, of Kaleem and Thaiba I wanted capture of few different types of couple shoot poses in which I used Pinterest to receive inspiration from. One of the main couple shot that I wanted to capture on the Nikkah is the groom holding the brides hand and the bride twirling. A twirling couple shot of the bride and groom connotes the celebration of love, symbolising the excitement and the joy between the couple as they embark their new chapter together. The twirling couple shot also connotes elegance, presenting a twirling shot and presenting the brides dress or dupatta (scarf) showing off the South Asian traditional wedding attire. 

Another photo that I wanted to capture is the groom holding his brides hand and kissing her forehead. The reason why I wanted to capture this image of the bride and groom because of the connotations that his held in the meaning of the image. The meaning of the image of the groom holding his brides hand and the gesture of kissing her forehead connotes love and affection symbolising the amount of love and respect and emotional relationship between the couple. 

Another meaning of the photo of the groom holding his brides hand and kissing her forehead in which made me want to capture the shot is because it connotes an act of protection and safety. As the groom presents the kiss on his brides forehead, he symbols a promise for protection, safety and security. Emphasising that he has agreed to take over the father of the brides role and to show his full commitment of love, trust and loyalty to stand by his wife's side ensuring that she is well protected throughout their life that they grow together.

DHOLKI:

For the Dholki event, it was difficult for me to get photos of the groom and bride together as because in my magazine I mentioned that traditionally, women lead the Dholki events and it will be mainly women around in our culture men and women are sometimes separated, making it difficult to capture a lot of photos of the Dholki event. However, I did capture photos that I wanted to capture, one of them being a photo of the props such as signs that we had at the Dholki in which guests were able to use for a Photo Booth. I decided to present a picture of the props that were used at the event connoting the idea of joy and allowing the guest to enjoy the moment. 

Another image I will be presenting is a photo of the bride herself. As because a Dholki is more of the women's night to enjoy themselves, to dance sing and live the moment. so it makes sense for the image of the Dholki page should have a photo of the bride. The image of the bride I will be capturing of her sitting down looking to a side and smiling, emphasising the joy and happiness on the Dholki event.

THAIBA'S MEHNDI:

For Thaiba's Mehndi, I will be adding one striking photo of the bride herself, showing off intricate detailed dress and the different pieces of her colourful mehndi. I will be adding pose most likely of her touching her jewellery such as her bracelets, her necklace, earrings or her tikka (hair piece). I want to add a shot of her touching her jewellery because it connotes the idea of celebrating the tradition, by showing off the colourful detailed jewellery, representing cultural heritage and my touching the jewellery illustrates her honouring her cultural roots. 

I will be using a photo of the sign illustrating "Thaiba Ki Mehndi" meaning "Thaiba's Mehndi". However I will be cutting out the background and just presenting the rectangle sign itself and will be putting it on top of the brides image to emphasise and to embrace the bright vibrant colours.

KALEEM'S MEHNDI:

For Kaleem's Mehndi day, I have decided to use this medium close up of him and I mainly focused on his face and increased the exposure on his face to illustrate the high energetic emotions on his Mehndi illustrating him behind the main character as the face glows. 

WEDDING:

For the wedding day, I wanted to capture mainly medium close up portraits of the bride and groom individually because I was able to express their facial expressions and also their intricate outfits in one shot. I wanted to also capture detail shots of the jewellery and the intricate detailing on the traditional outfits, but didn't have the time to capture a lot of photos as because I also wanted to enjoy the event of my brothers and sister-in-laws wedding. The only time I managed to get some photos of my models was when all the guests were eating and no one was taking any pictures or family shots with the couple. 

The images below were the best images I managed to capture of my models on the wedding day, presenting the facial expressions, emphasising the different emotions, the happiness on both of their faces as they finally made it and now starting their new life together.

 O B S C E N E    P U B LI C A T I O N S   A C T: 

When creating your own magazine, this is an illegal act to publish content that may negatively influence on the readers and to make them feel offended when reading the magazine. 

TARGET AUDIENCE:

The target audience of my magazine is at 18-30 year old, male and female. The audience may be influenced on my magazine by my revealing the different events of the wedding week and getting the audience having inspiration for the wedding and making their wedding planning less stressful. 

Having a South Asian wedding and announcing it to others, people stereo type the relationship of the marriage and assuming it being an arranged marriage from the parents finding a partner for their child looking for a partner. I will challenge this by expressing that having a love marriage can be a benefit and most likely express your love with one another as because you were able to build up your relationship together before taking the big step by taking the relationship into marriage. Having a relationship will have pros and cons. A pro being that the marriage is coming from your parents as in they will have an understanding of which partner is best for you to develop your life with. 

I will be taking with this the food, music and talking about coming together as 2 families. eye level shots, couple shots emphasising the idea of community, love and coming together.

Imaginary identity:

Adam is a 23 years old man who lives in Darnall, Sheffield who is in a serious relationship with his Girlfriend, Anaya who is 21 years old.

Adam is a business owner of a gold jewellery shop and his Girlfriend is a fashion designer. Both Adam and Anaya have already came to an agreement with both of their families for them both to get married and to now plan their dream wedding. 

As they both have upbringings of living in a cultured Pakistani households and expecting to have multiple cultural events during their wedding week, they both find it difficult for ideas and inspiration for their wedding events.

In Adam and Anayas free time together, they both read magazines related to Pakistani weddings to receive ideas and inspiration for them to include on their dream wedding. Adam and Anaya hopes to wear the colours red and black on their main wedding day to continue with the traditional pathway as a Pakistani groom and bride, and wishes their find the perfect outfits.

L I B E L    L A W :

Libel law in relations to a magazine is an oral/written statement with the intent to cause/harm damage to an individual's/company's reputation. Libel law is illegal to publish defamatory (harmful) content about a person or publish untrue information. 

For this act, I will expressing how having high ends luxury cars, having a long heavy wedding outfits and an outstanding intricate wedding suit doesn't mean that your Baraat is outstanding. I will be using images of my brother's Baraat to not say it was the best Baraat anyone could ever have, I am adding images of my brother's Baraat to create inspiration for the audiences who are planning their wedding. 

C O P Y R I G H T :

Allows producers of content to protect their intellectual property and for it not to be used without permission. 

For my magazine, I will be using my own photos that I will capturing individual photos of the bride and groom. As an evidence of me capturing these images, i have made my two models of the bride and groom to sign release and consent forms for them both to give permission to be involved in the magazine.

Another example prove of me creating my own assets for my magazine is that i will be creating my masthead and making it more related towards my magazine. Another example is that i will be using my own cover lines and visuals and revealing that creating this magazine is all my work.

If I was to create an interview of magazine, i will be creating a transcript of the interview for my brother and his wife and interviewing them questions about their wedding day and asking them questions that everybody may want the answer to and to help them plan their wedding with the answers from them and how they pre-planned their wedding day making the day go smooth. 

L A W S    O F    C O N T E M P T :

It is a criminal offence to publish content that poses a risk to justice in proceedings. Prevents magazines from publishing anything that is too sensationalist about a criminal case.  

E T H I C A L    I S S U E S :

One ethical issue that I will have to keep in mind when creating a traditional South Asian wedding magazine is that I will have to ensure that there is an equality between genders, meaning that I will have to make sure male and female i.e, the bride and groom are presenting equally in the magazine. 

Another ethical issue that is that I have respect for my models privacy and to ensure that they are entirely comfortable in being in my magazine. For me to achieve this, I will be creating consent forms for me to be able to receive permission from my models to see whether they are willing to be a part of my magazine. 

The last ethical issue that I must be aware of making sure I show my respect for religions. I will have to ensure that my models and my articles are not violent and not any way of exploiting. I will have to ensure my models are presented suitably for my target audience and for me to ensure that I am respecting the religion.
